Sustainability
Warners Fields aims to implement sustainable design principles in order to mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change. This will be accomplished through a variety of measures outlined below.
Measures
- The assessment and certification of homes in accordance with the requirements of the Home Quality Mark to deliver sustainable homes
- Development that reduces operational carbon emissions in accordance with the Future Homes Standard, achieving at least a 31% reduction in carbon emissions above current standards
- A commitment to the assessment and reduction of the embodied carbon of the development by at least 10%
- A reduction in household water consumption to meet the government’s higher water efficiency standard of 110 litres per person per day, in response to potential summer rainfall reductions
- Enhancement of the site’s biodiversity through habitat creation around the River Rae and the provision of green roof spaces to help city centre species adapt to climate change
- Evaluation of the development to reduce the risk of overheating due to rising summer temperatures
- Design which minimises the risk of flooding, while accounting for the effects of climate change and increasing winter rainfall
